Guided Math Chapter 3

A big thanks to Brenda at Primary Inspired for putting together this
wonderful bloggy book study.   I am learning so much!!

Tania from My Second Sense and Michelle from Making It As A Middle School Teacher are hosting today's chapter all about using a daily Math Warm-up.

I couldn't agree more with Sammons on page sixty-seven, "The morning routine we establish sets the tone for the day".   I know that if my students know what is expected when they arrive in my classroom they will have a much easier transition from home to school.   I also know by activating a student's prior knowledge, I set them up to be able to learn new material more easily. So, It makes sense, that participating in a carefully planned, brief math activity will help my students "stretch"  and "warm-up" before the more taxing work of the day gets underway.

As I read through the ideas for warm-ups, I was excited to see that I already use several of these in my classroom.  I have always had a question of the day for attendance, and I do a number of the day, pattern, and problem during my calendar time.

and 230 yes/no questions

I am really excited to implement some of the warm-ups mentioned in Chapter Three into the morning routine in my classroom.
