Teacher Week 2013: Let's Talk About Me

I can't begin to talk about me, without talking about this incredible man!  He is simply the most amazing person I have ever known.  I met my sweetheart in July of 1990 and we were engaged 11 days later. I know!  I know!  l would kill one of my kids if they pulled a stunt like that. ;)  We have been married for almost 23 years and I love him a little more every single day!

These five crazy, cute, brilliant, wonderful kids call me "Mom".  Being their mom is my greatest blessing.  I love them more than anything...including diet Coke and chocolate!
We live in Utah Valley in Northern Utah.  Utah is such a wonderful place to live if you love the outdoors.  The mountains here are beautiful.  I can leave my house and be out of the city and surrounded by God's most beautiful creations in less than 20 minutes! We love to go hiking, camping (ok...the boys love camping and the girls and I love the boys, so we go), and boating.  I feel very blessed to live in such a fabulous place.
My hubby and I spent six very happy years at the University of Utah and remain huge fans of Utah Football.  I get a little giddy in August when I know football season is just around the corner.  Only 18 more days to their season opener!  It feels a little like Christmas. :)
I married a Leonard and gave birth to a couple of Sheldon's.  Enough said.

One of the things I absolutely adore is running into a student or former student outside the school and classroom.  You know the moment...you are walking through Target (usually with embarrassing personal products in your cart) when you see one of them grabbing mom's arm and pointing.  The look on their face is priceless.  You can almost hear the gears in their little brains turning...trying to figure out why in the heck you are outside of the school.  They can't seem to wrap their little heads around the fact that teachers do indeed have a life outside of their classrooms.  For some of my littles, the trauma of seeing me outside the classroom is more frequent because I live in their neighborhood...gasp!  Yup!  I teach in my neighborhood elementary school and I LOVE it! My two minute commute to school is a perk I don't think I am willing to give up anytime soon.

Last week I went to the Utah Teacher/Blogger Meet-up and I felt a little bit like my firsties when they run into me in Target.  Here were a group of AMAZING women that I knew only from their blogs.  Meeting them and finding a little bit about their "real lives" was super fun.  The linky today at Blog Hoppin'  is giving us a chance to get to know each other outside the classroom and blogosphere.  I can't wait to "hop" over and meet all of you!!
